The Studio

The studio is a purpose-built facility that has recently undergone a complete equipment upgrade. The air-conditioned control room is based around the latest Mac Pro computer system running ProTools 11 recording and mixing software. A Digidesign C|24 control surface provides the centerpiece of the control room with crystal clear sound and full control of ProTools.

There is also a wide range of outboard dynamics and reverb including a Bricasti M7 and Lexicon 480L. These can be used alongside the latest plugins from Waves and Antares. Our extensive range of microphones is available to all users of the studio as well as the industry standard NS10 monitors. Our full range Genelec monitors ensure accurate mixes every time.

The live room is a flexible space with moving panels which provide a variable acoustic surface giving greater control over the sound. We also have an acoustically dry booth which is great for tracking drums and vocals and also works very well for spoken word.

The studio is the perfect location to record bands, corporate voiceovers, soloists, singers and small to medium size instrumental or vocal ensembles. We are able to offer engineers and producers with a wealth of experience in a wide range of genres who will help you get the most out of your recording.

The importance of being comfortable and relaxed on a session can not be underestimated which is why anyone using the studio has full access to our lounge. With access to a kitchen, the lounge is a comfortable place for performers to relax between sessions.

As well as its use as a sound recording studio, the live room is also regularly used for photography and filming. With its neutral decoration and excellent lighting it is an ideal room in which to film interviews, recitals and masterclasses.

The studio recently hosted The King's Singers during the recording of their latest album, Postcards. It has also been used by renowned euphonium soloist David Childs for the filming of his masterclass DVD. The BBC's Frank Renton has also regularly visited the studio to record interviews and links for various World of Brass DVDs.
